An utilitarian apartment building service (the postroom) is getting a brightness, as developers consider fun in functional, according to a new Fast Company report.
Purchase habits and employment patterns, as well as updates to USPS construction codes and regulations, promote the revision of the spaces that survive.
The concept is not completely new: a 2018 Wall Street Journal story compared the email rooms in some high -end novelties with the elegant private post offices.
The email room in One Hudson Yards, for example, has a backlined Brazilian quartzite and bright stone lands.
The construction of the mailing room at the prestigious 56 Leonard Condominium de Tribeca required to eliminate a whole wall from the lobby to install special granite lands, the newspaper reported.
But it is no longer just about ultra -luxury developments offered by the five -star treatment in the mail rooms.
Julia Lauve, an interior designer based in Dallas, told Fast Company that modern mail rooms leave the shade. Lauve’s firm, Workshop Studio, builds e -mail rooms with sofas, wooden panels and moody lighting.
Lauve called an email room as “an extent of the lobby”, instead of leaving the space “a later thought and it moved away.”
At a time when apartment inhabitants can provide their homes through online shopping, it is not uncommon for mail rooms to receive more attention.
These spaces not only require more high -tech safety to house mountains of precious plots (Amazon lockers, door coded with keys and surveillance cameras), they simply require more space.
Remote work also influences the future of mail rooms. The post-paid increase in remote work has led to multi-family residences to offer Lonely Desk Askes games outside their apartments to work.
These spaces have few requirements: a soft tablet, free wifi, a start -up and maybe a little natural light. Designers like Lauve Ask, why can’t these spaces be found in the mailing room?
Regardless of whether a building wants to attend to the most creative uses of the email room, grow the imprint of these rooms that are executed is becoming a regulatory need.
Sheena Brittingham, a Portland -based design partner, told Fast Company that housing code changes further promote the evolution of these neglected rooms.
Recent reviews in the North -American with disabilities and the improvement of radius requirements in common areas have required expansion even the most standards in the mail rooms, reported the exit.
